The site, characterized by its steep slopes and intersecting natural features, required meticulous planning and advanced engineering solutions. AXA Engineers was brought on board as an outsourcing partner to lead design phase from inception through to the approval of the Construction Documents (CD) set.

Project Vision and Challenges

Situated in Wake County, the Parkside Village Town Development aims to create a residential community that harmonizes with its natural landscape while maintaining functional and aesthetically pleasing infrastructure. The steep terrain, characterized by a 10-foot elevation difference between alley roads and residential roads, coupled with the presence of intersecting streams and wetlands, presents significant hurdles for grading and designing layouts.

The 10-foot elevation difference between alley roads and residential roads complicates the design and necessitates a balanced cut-and-fill approach.

We adopted a dual connectivity approach for buildings, linking the front to residential roads and the back to alley roads via basements. This design mitigated the need for extensive excavation, balancing the cut-and-fill operations.
